Tim and Kris Todd and family welcomed a huge crowd of new and repeat buyers to the Green Mountain Angus “Cattlemen’s Choice” Fall Production Sale. The sale was held at the ranch near Ryegate, MT, on Nov. 16. There was standing room only and the crowd bid fast and furiously to purchase this great set of spring born bull calves, two-year-old bulls and bred heifers.
This was a very uniform, thick set of bulls, sired by the top bulls in the Angus breed. Of the 209 bulls offered, over three-quarters would work on heifers, plus have the extra kick to wean heavy calves. Just a couple weeks before this sale, a set of 9-weight steers sired by Green Mountain bulls dollared out at over $1,300 per head at Belle Fourche Livestock, Belle Fourche, SD.
The bulls sold in large sire groups, in some cases there were up to 30 bulls out of one sire, allowing the buyers to select many half brother bulls.
Topping the sale was lot 21, GMAR Frontman Z095, a Jan. 28, 2012, son of Kesslers Frontman R001 and out of a Sitz Upward dam. This bull has EPD’s of BW 2.5, WW 62, Milk 31, YW 104 and sold to Mangen Angus Ranch, Broadus, MT, for $17,000.
