Hagan, Stabenow ask for small pork producer aid

Sen. Kay Hagan, D-N.C., and Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., asked Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today to provide aid to small pork producers whose operations have been affected by the porcine endemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), which has killed more than 4 million pigs nationwide since April 2013.

In a letter, the senators noted that the 2014 farm bill extended livestock disaster assistance and said the aid could help producers in North Carolina, Michigan and 24 other states. F

Interior to move BLM headquarters back to DC
