Nathan Spickler, Glenfield, N.D., judged the Sioux Empire Farm Show Hereford Show Jan. 28 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Spickler chose lot 39, SH Bouchard B326E, a consignment from Schmidt Herefords, Pipestone, Minn., as champion bull. He was sired by Remitall-West Beliveau 6Z and out of Harvie MS Jade 57Y. He sold to Ron Guthmiller, Menno, S.D., for $4,500.
Reserve champion bull went to lot 13, LCX 719T Keepsake 8C ET, a consignment from Larry Crane, Mitchell, S.D. He was sired by TH 122 711 Victor 719T and out of MSV Keepsake 14S. He was second highest selling bull and sold to Chris Lutt, Battle Creek, Neb., for $6,000.
The highest selling bull came from Larry Crane and sold to Matt Lautner, Adel, Iowa, for $7,500.
Spickler chose lot 3, LCX Zoey Lady 4C, a consignment from Larry Crane, as champion female. She was sired by Star TCF Shock & Awe 158W and out of WLL Zoey 3Z. She was the highest selling female and sold to Dani Jo Stoltz, Mt. Vernon, S.D., for $13,000.
Spickler chose lot 5, SMR 1680 MS. Courtnay 416, as reserve champion female. She was consigned by Scott and Melissa Runck, Avoca, Minn. She was sired by R Vision 4260 and out of R Miss Legend 1680. She was the second highest selling female and sold to Jack Johnson, Milford, Iowa, for $4,500.
Chisum Peterson, Pukwana, S.D., served as auctioneer for the Hereford Sale. He auctioned 22 bulls and eight females. Twenty-two bulls averaged $3,806.82, and the eight females averaged $4,406.25.
