High Plains Ranch Practicum: Few spots remain before April 29 deadline
April 22, 2011
The High Plains Ranch Practicum School is gearing up for its fourth class since the program began in 2007. The application deadline for discounted registration is April 29 and there are still a few spots remaining. The Ranch Practicum is an in-depth ranch management school hosted jointly by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension and the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES).
The practicum begins in June and concludes January 2012. Sessions are held primarily at the UW Experiment Station near Lingle.
The practicum is limited to 35. Participants must submit an application form by April 29. A $600 fee for individuals or $900 for a pair covers materials, instructor costs and meals. Producer participants who complete the course requirements will receive a 50 percent tuition scholarship reducing the cost of the class to $300 for individuals and $450 for a pair.
The course is an approved borrower training course by the Farm Service Agency and can be taken for credit through UNL or UW.
