Horse judging workshop at North Dakota State University October 23-24

North Dakota State University (NDSU) will host a workshop featuring multi-champion horse judging coach Jon Wolf on Oct. 23-24 in Fargo.

“This will be a great workshop for youth judging teams as well as anyone interested in learning more about how horses are judged,” said Carrie Hammer, NDSU Extension Service equine specialist.

Lectures on Oct. 23 will start at 10 a.m. and cover the basics of judging horses in Western and English events. Participants will have hands-on experience judging live horse classes starting at 9 a.m. Oct. 24. That afternoon, Wolf, of Galva, IL, will work one-on-one with participants interested in developing their oral reasons skills for judging competitions.

The workshop will be held on the NDSU campus and at the NDSU Equine Center.

The cost is $40 for the weekend for a single participant or $150 for a team (four team members and one coach) if registered by Oct. 1.
