House Ag Committee debuts blog about farmers
The House Agriculture Committee Republicans on Thursday debuted a new blog, Homegrown, to chronicle daily life of American farmers and ranchers from the perspective of producers.
“The gap between urban and rural Americans is growing, and many Americans may not understand how the food on their table gets from the farm to the grocery store, or have ever stepped foot on a farm,” the committee said in a news release. “Agriculture affects everyone, whether you live in a metropolitan area or the countryside. From food to fiber to biofuels, farmers and ranchers cultivate their land day in and day out to provide the nation with the safest, most abundant and affordable food and fiber supply in the world.”
Throughout the year, Homegrown will feature periodic updates from two farmers: Noah Hultgren of Kandiyohi County, Minn., and Shawn Holladay of Lamesa, Texas.
“Readers will get a glimpse into the daily workload and challenges producers face, from spring planting through the fall harvest,” the committee said.
