Iron Mountain Cattle Co. 1st Annual Production Sale
Iron Mountain Cattle Co., owned by Dan Long and managed by Mike and Kathy Davis, presented an excellent set of bulls for their first annual bull sale held at Belle Fourche Livestock in Belle Fourche, SD. This may be a new operation in western South Dakota but Dan and Mike are not new to the Angus business. They have been involved in the Angus breed for several years and plan to be around for the long term.
The cowherd was built from a solid foundation of Schaff Angus Valley, Assman Land & Cattle and Sinclair Cattle Co. genetics. The sale bulls showed lots of thickness, length and fleshing ability along with eye appeal. There was a good cross section of powerful growth bulls and many calving ease bulls. All had big gains from birth to weaning.
Topping the sale was Lot 23, PCLC King 9027, a 1/15/09 bull sired by SAV Final Answer 0035 with EPDs of BW 1.1, WW 61, YW 94 and Milk 19. Mike Assman of Mission, SD was the buyer at $4,500.
