Iver Paul wins at Ropes and Goats debut in Faith

“Enter through the narrow gate,” is the opening sentence of the Bible verse of the day that Iver Paul recited at the debut of Ropes and Goats Tuesday, June 14, at the Faith (SD) Stock Show and Rodeo grounds. Ten-year-old Iver Paul’s name was drawn; he aptly recited Matthew 7:13-14 and won $5.

And enter through the narrow gate did 61 entries in all the age groups in breakaway roping and goat tying.

The results are as follows with the times on three runs:



Jr. Boys & Girls Goat Snatching: 1. Kailyn Groves, 25.45, $44; 2. Mikenzy Miller, 25.72, $33; 3. Harland Groves, 26.66, $22; and 4. Duce Escott, 28.92, $11.

Junior Girls Goat Tying: 1. Jayden Shoemaker, 76.58, $60.



Junior Boys Goat Tying: 1. Trevor Olson, 47.13, $60.

Senior Girls Goat Tying: 1. Callie Bernstein, 32.14, $75.

Open Girls Goat Tying: 1. Marcie Locken, 29.95, $90.

Junior Girls Breakaway Roping: 1. Mikenzy Miller, 8.79 on two head, $30.

Junior Boys Breakaway Roping: 1. Cole Brewer, 17.56 on two head, $45.

Senior Girls Breakaway Roping: 1. Trisha Price, 15.99, $90; 2. Mercedes Williams, 21.71, $54; and 3. Shania Johnston, 22.04, $36.

Senior Boys Breakaway Roping: 1. Tyus Olson, 17.86 on two head, $55.

Open Girls Breakaway Roping: 1. Mercedes Williams, 9.44 on two head, $120; 2. Karen Miller, 9.83, $72; and 3. Megan Steiger, 17.39, $48.
