JBS opens case-ready offal facility in Cactus, Texas

GREELEY, Colo., Feb. 13, 2014 – JBS USA announces the launch of a state-of-the-art case-ready offal room at its beef processing plant in Cactus, Texas. The new facility boasts more than 13,500 square-feet of dedicated space for case-ready processing and is designed to allow continual expansion to meet the growing needs of customers.
"The new operation is designed to provide customers with a more comprehensive product offering to include case-ready and value-added solutions," said Al Byers, leader of the JBS USA fed beef business unit. "The packaging technology enhances our ability to meet the unique needs of our customers in both domestic and international markets."
The new case-ready line delivers a comprehensive variety meat offering including tripe, oxtails, tongue, and other popular offal items. The Cactus beef facility also produces boxed beef and ground beef. In addition to the legacy Swift(R) brand, the plant produces premium programs including Swift Black Angus(R) and Certified Angus Beef(R).
"We are dedicated to providing the best possible service, selection and value to our customers," Byers said. "The new case-ready operation provides our customers with the opportunity to easily add variety to their existing beef programs while decreasing their operational costs."
The investment in the Cactus beef plant illustrates JBS's commitment to remain a leader in quality and service by continually integrating innovation into its facilities.
JBS's Cactus operation was established in 1973 and is located on 125 acres in the Texas Panhandle. The facility employs more than 3,200 team members and is capable of processing 5,200 head of cattle per day.
