Jean Moody
Jean Moody age 81, of Letcher, SD, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital.
Jean (Cross) Moody, daughter of Frank and Helen (Byrd) Cross, was born in Mitchell, SD on Oct. 5, 1930. She grew up one mile east of Loomis and graduated from Letcher High School. Jean attended Notre Dame College for six months and then started teaching. She taught for 33 years, retiring in 1995.
Jean was united in marriage with Ralph Moody in Minnesota. The couple lived several places in South Dakota but settled in Letcher with the three boys.
She enjoyed traveling, shopping, spending time with her family and gambling “a little.”
Grateful for having shared her life are her three sons: Tim Moody, Terry (Jill) Moody; and Skip (Diane) Moody, all of Letcher; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three sisters, Violet Mackey of Mitchell, Bev (Kenny) Mikkelson of Sioux Falls and Carol (Mike) Royston of Dimock; three brothers, Frank Cross of Parkston, Bob Cross of Ft. Pierre and Russ (Judy) Cross of Mt. Vernon; and her best friend, George Loomer.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; her parents; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Moody; and a sister, Eva Brewer.
