SDPPC gives Joan Muller a Friends of the Industry Award

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The South Dakota Pork Producers Council recognized Joan Muller of Davis, SD the Friends of the Industry Award during the Master Pork Producers Banquet on Wednesday, January 9, 2019.

The Friends of the Industry Award recognizes state individuals, leaders or businesses for their continued support of the pork industry. The recipient will be given a plaque for their outstanding involvement and service to the pork industry.

Joan is the wife of Glenn Muller; Executive Director of the South Dakota Pork Producers Council. Joan is one of the best cheerleaders for the South Dakota Pork Industry. Her support of the industry, producers and staff is a key trait for this award. She loves to help at any of the many pork events throughout the year.

Joan is an LPN at Sanford Women’s Health and has been a nurse there for 38 years. She graduated from Southeast Technical Institute in 1971 and been a nurse ever since. Glenn and Joan farm near Lennox and have a cattle operation.

Joan married Glenn 1971 and have four children, Sarah & Shannon Voegele of Lennox; Scott & Amie Larsen of Davis; Shelly and Cory Altena of George, IA and Steven & Amy of Onida.

They have 6 beautiful grandchildren; Cash – 13, Sage – 11, Kinsley – 9, Keilahny – 3, Shaden – 6 and Shally -1 ½.

Joan was diagnosed last year with Ovarian Cancer and has undergone treatment to become a survivor of this disease. She is a true inspiration and role model for all!

Joan likes to sew, do floral designs and follow Pinterest ideas. She loves to bake and make BIG family meals. Her favorite pastime is spending time with family and her grandchildren that is the most rewarding part of life!
