Average: 112 ylg bulls – $4,805
Mobridge Livestock was the setting for the large crowd that had gathered to bid on the Johnson-Rose Angus bulls. This program has many customers who have been with them for more than twenty years. Stuart Johnson, Bonnie and Clint Rose, and Pearl Johnson use the blood lines of GI Joe, Sinclair Net Present Value, Cole Creek Cedar Ridge IV, along with Rito 6I6 of 4B20 6807, Mytty In Focus, Connealy Thunder, and S Chisum 6175.
These bulls showed a lot of rib and shape, with muscle down their backs and hindquarters. The top performance bulls caught the eye of many of the bidders, and there was good demand on the calving ease prospects.
These bulls are backed by strong maternal genetics and will produce heavy steers and beautiful replacement females.
There were several customers on the seats that bought in volume, and this made the sale move along in rapid fashion. The weather was decent with a bit of a cool, stiff breeze.
The Johnson-Rose crew offers much in customer service. They keep the bulls free until April 15 and then deliver them. They also offer one of the best guarantees in the business.
Top selling bull of the day was Lot 17, selling for $10,500 to Toby Keller, Trail City, S.D. Here was a son of Connealy Thunder with a 74 lb. birth weight and a weaning weight of 749 lb. He had gained over 4 lb. a day on test.
Brian Worth and Craig Worth, Gettysburg, S.D., topped their purchases with Lot 8 at $10,500. He was a son of Cole Creek Cedar Ridge IV, and out of a daughter of Boyd New Day 8005. With a 78 lb. birth weight, he weaned at 651 lb. and had a 37 cm. scrotal measurement.
Lot 6 also sold to Brian and Craig Worth, fetching $10,000. This son of Cole Creek Cedar Ridge IV was out of a two-year-old daughter of Connealy Thunder. Born at 69 lb., he weaned at 667 lb. He gained 3.89 lb. a day and had a yearling weight of 1,225 lb.
Duane Keller, Trail City, SD, chose Lot 2 at $ 9500. Another son of Cole Creek Cedar Ridge IV, he was out of a daughter of Salt Creek Bob. He was welcomed into the world at 78 lb., but then he knew how to grow as he posted a weaning weight of 736 lb. With a gain of 3.59 lb. a day, he posted a yearling weight of 1,222 lb.
Lot 3, another highly sought after bull, was purchased by Duane Keller at $9,500. He was yet another son of Cole Creek Cedar Ridge IV and out of a two-year-old daughter of Mytty In Focus. With a 60 lb. birth weight, he weaned at 694 lb. and grew to a yearling weight of 1,189 lb. He had a 38 cm. scrotal measurement.
A strong sale of some of the other sire groups rounded out this sale. Customer service, along with very loyal commercial customers will keep this program strong.
