49 coming two-year-old virgin Angus bulls average: $3,413
What a day to buy bulls at Lemmon Livestock in Lemmon, S.D. This was an impressive offering brought by the Johnson's J Ranch. They were in green condition but it was all part of the program, as they are developed to last in herds for several years. Most of the bulls weren't born until May and had no creep feed as calves. This shows that they carry high feed conversions with the ability to put dollars back into anybody's program. The buyers seemed to like this idea and kept the ring men and auctioneer busy throughout the sale. The cream off the top is as follows:

Lot 21, JJR Front Page 172Z, was purchased by Jiggs Biegler of Timber Lake, S.D. for $8,000. This JJR Front Page 235U son was born at 76 lbs, 592 lbs at 205 days, and was 1,149 lbs as a yearling. His EPDs are BW 1.0, WW 43, YW 71, and $EN +6.91.
Lot 36, a JJR Alliance 170T son was also purchased by Jiggs Biegler of Timber Lake, S.D. for $5,750. JJR Alliance 183Z has EPDs of BW 3.3, WW 42, YW 71, and $EN +7.98. His actual birth and 205 weights are 85 and 684 lbs respectively.
Lot 6, JJR Final Answer 151Z, is a son of none other than SAV Final Answer 0035. Purchased for $5,500 by Wayne Nelson of Buffalo, S.D. this bull has EPDs of BW 0.4, WW 55, YW 92, and $EN +2.01. This bull weighed 74 lbs at birth and 662 lbs at 205 days.
Rounding out the top end were Lots 9, 12, 18, and 43 at $4,750.
