Judge rejects suit against soda tax
A judge this week rejected a lawsuit against Philadelphia’s tax on sweetened beverages, Philly Voice and the Philadelphia Business Journal reported.
The tax is scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2017. The judge’s decision is seen as bolstering campaigns in other cities to impose a tax on sweetened beverages both to reduce obesity and to raise money for government programs.
