Ward wins senior all-around in Sturgis series

The Sturgis Youth Rodeo Series (SYRS) had a great turn out once again this summer. With five rodeos scheduled throughout the summer, competitors from as far away as Australia joined us for some fun competition at the Sturgis rodeo grounds. Contestants competed for Tod Slone Saddles, Hy O Silver buckles, Clint Mortensen spurs and stirrups, and many more prizes. This years all around winners are as follows:
All Around winners received Tod Slone saddles
Pee Wee All Around – Koby Bowden
Junior All Around – Landry Haugen
Intermediate All Around – Bodie Mattson
Senior All Around – KeAnna Ward
Reserve All Around received Clint Mortensen handmade spurs
Pee Wee – Arina Haugen
Junior – Brylee Grubb
Intermediate – Tearra Merrill
Senior – Taylor Hanson
Banquet night was held at the new Scott Peterson Motors in Sturgis, and the catered meal was made possible by Scott Peterson and John Rehmeier of Boehringer Ingelheim.
It was fun to watch the smiles as each contestant received their hard-earned awards.
The SYRS was established in 2015 and gives away more than $12,000 in awards each year all because of our amazing sponsors.
Our goal at the SYRS is to offer a safe, fun, and competitive rodeo for boys and girls. We love giving awards that kids will use. Contestants must purchase a membership to compete for awards.
This year five rodeos were held and each contestant got to take their best four to be counted for awards.
Age groups range from 0-18.
SYRS appreciates every sponsor that helped to make this such a great event and all who pitched in to help at each rodeo.
See you next year at the SYRS.
