Land of the free because of the brave

This photo was taken on July 20, 2014, at Camp Guernsey, Wyo. According to photographer Matt Berry, the unit is 2-222 Field Artillery Battalion from the Utah Army National Guard. An M109 self-propelled Paladin 155 mm howitzer is shown preparing to conduct a field artillery direct fire gunnery exercise during the unit’s Annual Training.
Photographer Matt Berry is a civillian contractor for the Army National Guard. He trains soldiers in Counter Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) operations, which increases the soldier’s survivability on the battlefield against IED’s. Matt is also a Captain in the Wyoming Army National Guard, and is currently serving as the Battery Commander for Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 115th Field Artillery Brigade, located in Cheyenne, Wyo. He grew up on a ranch north of Torrington, Wyo., and lives with his wife, Karie, in Lingle, Wyo.
