What a set of bulls brought to town by Dan and Jesse Lewis coming together for their annual bull sale in St. Onge, SD. It was a chilly overcast day at St. Onge Livestock but it did not keep the buyers from being ringside. There was literally standing room only as everyone wanted to take part in the action buying bulls representing calving ease, performance, muscle, and substance. Many bulls offered were backed with pedigrees that pulled from all the top cattle of the business. The bulls offered were impressive in all aspects from uniformity to docility to attractiveness. Every bull through the ring found a new home, which proves that this is a super set of bulls to fit into any operation. Here are the top sellers:
Lot 1, DL Grandview 53, was one Connealy Final Product son highly sought after and received a lot of attention topping out at $25,000. He is headed to Evan’s Farms in Stephenville, Texas. He had EPDs of BW -0.9, WW 78, YW 136, and Milk 35 backed with actual birth and 205 weights of 63 pounds and 903 pounds respectively.
Lot 73 sold for $22,000 to the Dikoff Ranch of Onaka, S.D., and JK Angus of Montrose, S.D. DL Incentive 1952 is a DL Incentive 228 son with EPDs of BW 2.6, WW 70, YW 125, and Milk 28. His actual birth weight was 77 pounds and has an Adj. 205 of 849 pounds.
Lot 78, heading to the Spear Diamond Ranch of South Dakota for $10,500. DL Upscale 1962 is a Sitz Upscale 671T son with actual birth and 205 weights of 78 pounds and 875 pounds. He has EPDs of BW 0.9, WW 60, YW 112, and Milk 25. He was definitely an eye catcher with the whole package.
Lot 40, DL Consensus 253 brought $9,000 and is going to Bruce Jensen of Owanka, SD. His EPDs of BW 3.7, WW 56, YW 94, and Milk 33 supported his actual birth weight of 68 pounds and 205 weight of 793 pounds. This was a smooth, long, good looking son of the ever popular Connealy Consensus 7229.
Lot 33, DL Sure Shot 703 also sold for $9,000 to the Wasserburger Ranch of Lusk, Wyo. This MOGCK Sure Shot son represented calving ease and performance with an actual birth weight of 73 pounds and flew to 819 pounds at his Adj. 205. His EPDs are BW 1.1, WW 62, YW 101, and Milk 36.
Lot 41, DL Consensus 613, another Connealy Consensus 7229 son, sold to Ron Froelich of Selfridge, N.D., for $8,750. His EPDs are BW 3.1, WW 69, YW 103, and Milk 29 backed with an actual birth weight of 75 pounds and Adj. 205 860 pounds.
