Lisco and M Diamond 18th Annual Angus Range Bull Sale

“From the hub of cow country, come cattle born and bred with the drive to thrive.” Lisco Angus, owned by Dick Lisco, and M Diamond Angus, owned by Brad Boner, and their families, hosted an extra big crowd for their annual production sale at Glenrock, WY. These two guys are really well liked and the beautiful day combined for, perhaps, their strongest sale ever – start to finish. Their customers believe in Dick and Brad, and they readily bid to buy every bull in the offering.

These two cattle herds share one philosophy – breeding cattle that can thrive under tough range conditions with limited inputs of feed and labor. The Angus females are the heart of their breeding program. A cow that can utilize forage, breed back and calve early is the ultimate goal. Dick and Brad place strong emphasis on fertility, fleshing ability, udder quality, mothering ability, disposition and structural soundness.

Top selling bull of the day was Lot 1, a son of the very popular SAV Final Answer 0035. Born at 78 pounds, he was out of a daughter of Baldridge Nebraska 901 who had ratioed 107 on four calves. He weaned at 699 pounds and posted EPDs of +10 CED, +0.4 BW, +55 WW, +20 MILK and +99 YW. This was a Lisco bull, and he sold to M Diamond Angus as a new herd bull for $5,500.

Lot 52 sold for $5,350 to the Sullivan Ranch from Wyoming. He was sired by Connealy Front Page 0228 and was out of a daughter of Baldridge Nebraska. Born at 70 pounds, he weaned at 691 pounds and had EPDs of +8 CED, +0.4 BW, +51 WW, +21 MILK and +84 YW.

The Nine Mile Ranch from Wyoming paid $4,800 to own Lot 54, another son of Connealy Front Page. He was out of a two-year-old daughter of Baldridge Nebraska 901. Hitting the ground at 70 pounds, he weaned at 675 pounds. His 38.5 cm. scrotal measurement complimented a sale day weight of 1,255 pounds. His EPDs were +7 CED, +1.4 BW, +48 WW, +18 MILK and +90 YW.

Lot 17 also sold to the Nine Mile Ranch. At $4,700, he was a son of Marcys 07 Broadband 1-7. He was 65 pounds at birth and was out of a daughter of Sitz Rainmaker 6169. Weaning at 695 pounds, this bull posted a sale day weight of 1,185 pounds.

Lot 16 sold for $4,600 to another Wyoming Ranch, the Vollman Ranch. This son of Marcys 07 Broadband 1-7 was out of a daughter of Sitz Alliance 6595 and had an 82 pound birth weight. Weaning at 700 pounds, his EPDs were +8 CED, 1.6 BW, +55 WW, +27 MILK, and +101 YW. He scanned a 13.7 sq. in. rib eye area.

What a great day for Lisco & M Diamond! One of these years I would like to stay for the post-sale hospitality – they say it is a great time!
