Luhman Angus 21st Annual Production Sale

Luhman Angus held their 21st annual bull sale April 20 at Stockmen’s Livestock Auction in Dickinson, ND. This was the best sale to date for this operation, but with the sudden death of Dale Luhman in March, it was a bittersweet event. Ranching was Dale’s passion and he had a distinct love for Angus cattle. He was focused on raising cattle that will stand up under the toughest of environments with bred-in longevity.

A few years ago when Dale’s wife, Tammy, retired from the post office, she started working with Dale side-by-side and has gained that same love for Angus cattle. With the help of neighbors, close friends and the guidance of a top notch Angus field representative, she plans to continue the Luhman Angus operation.

The bulls in the sale were a strong testament to the goals of this operation. They were summered on mother’s milk and grass with no creep feed, and developed on feed for a moderate, but very reasonable gain of 2.94 pounds per day. This was the most uniform set of bulls offered to date with thickness, depth and structural soundness.

Two bulls topped the sale at $8,000.

Lot 210, LA Upward 210, a 1/27/10 son of Sitz Upward 307 with EPDs of BW 2.5, WW 60, YW 114 and Milk 32, sold to Baker’s LeMar Angus, St. Onge, SD.
