Maddocks, Yackley crowned at 2013 Miss Rodeo South Dakota pageant

Kristina Maddocks from Hecla, SD, was crowned 2012 Lady-In-Waiting during the Miss Rodeo South Dakota pageant on July 2, during the Black Hills Roundup PRCA rodeo.

Maddocks, who currently holds the 2012 Miss Rodeo Black Hills Stock Show title, won the categories of Horsemanship, Speech, Appearance, Personality and Photogenics. First runner-up was Melynda Sletten from Pierpont, SD.

As Lady-In-Waiting, Maddocks will shadow 2012 Miss Rodeo South Dakota Courtney Peterson as she rides her way to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, NV to compete for the title of Miss Rodeo America.



Maddocks’ official coronation ceremony as Miss Rodeo South Dakota 2013 will be held in January.

Also crowned at the event was 2013 Junior Miss Rodeo South Dakota Brielle Yackley from Pierre, SD.



The outgoing South Dakota High School Rodeo Association Rodeo Queen, Yackley has held 11 queen titles. She was named first attendant at the 2011 National High School Rodeo Queen competition after winning horsemanship, impromptu question response and personality divisions.

First runner-up in the Junior Miss Rodeo South Dakota pageant was Whitney Gimpel.

The Roundup, held in Belle Fourche, SD, has been home to the Miss Rodeo South Dakota and Junior Miss pageants since 1963. Four times since, the young lady wearing Miss Rodeo South Dakota’s crown has also been named Miss Rodeo America.F
