Maine Anjou results from 2009 Sioux Empire Farm Show
Par Five Cattle Co. of Lake City, SD took home the award for champion Maine Anjou Bull with their consignment, Parv Triton, at the Sioux Empire Farm Show first annual Maine Anjou Show Friday, Jan. 30, in Sioux Falls, SD. The cattle were judged by Jerry Talsma from Edgerton, MN.
The animal, lot 15, was sired by DCC The Greek and out of LR Miss Ultima 482L. He went on to be the high selling bull, going for $4,100 to Harrison Hawley of Vermillion, SD.
Named reserve champion bull was lot 12, BPF Next Contender, a consignment from Bushy Park Farms of Mitchell, SD. He was sired by HAA Contender 243P and out of JMC Miss 707J. He went on to be the second highest selling bull, going for $3,400 to David Hanson of Lakefield, MN.
Lot 1, BPF Princess 93U, another consignment from Bushy Park Farms, was named champion female. She went on to be the high selling female, going for $3,750 to Neal Pearson of Lake City, SD.
Named reserve champion female was Lot 5, EVFM Unique, a consignment from Eastview Maines/D.J. Folkerts of Jasper, MN. She is sired by Gigolo Joe and out of EVFM Farra. She went on to be the second highest selling female, going for $2,000 to Dale Thue of Lake Norden, SD.
Seth Weishaar of Belle Fourche, SD served as auctioneer for the Maine Anjou sale. He sold four bulls for an average of $3,025 and six females averaging $1,721.43.
