Mandan Rodeo offers children’s activities July 2-3
The Mandan Rodeo Days Committee invites youngsters to participate in stick horse races and mutton busting on July 2 and 3.
Free stick horses will be available on July 2 and 3 for early-bird youngsters. The first 50 children age six and under to enter the gates who wish to compete in the Touchstone Energy “Race of Future Champions” will receive a free Wrangler stick horse. Stick horses are provided by RCC Western Stores.
Ten contestants also are being accepted for the Touchstone Energy mutton busting competition on each July 2 and 3. Riders must be age 6 or younger and weigh no more than 60 pounds. Entries opened June 6. To register, phone Sheila Ressler during evening hours at 701-516-4688.
Mutton busting contestants need to wear western attire including jeans, boots and a long-sleeve shirt. Protective helmets and vests are also required and will be made available.
July 2 is Family Night at the Mandan Rodeo. Beginning at 5 p.m., rodeo spectators may enjoy a free feed and inflatable games for children hosted by Cumulus Broadcasting.
