It was a borderline cold day at the ranch sale ring located near Dix, Neb. even though the sun was shining and there was no wind. Many potential bull buyers roamed the back pens Feb. 7., with the ability to ask Ryan, Royce, or Roger McConnell about anything from bull data to maternal history. Buyers could bid all day long with confidence that the bull they purchased would be a “working bull” that would go out and get the job done in all categories from feed efficiency to maternal traits and everywhere in between. The quality matched the hospitality from the McConnell family and it was a pleasure to attend the sale. Here is how the top end looked:
Topping the sale at $25,000 was Lot 85, McConnell Consent To Go 2323, a Connealy Consensus 7229 son out of a SAF 598 Bando 5175 mother. Lot 72 sold to Brenner Angus of Idalia, Colo., for $19,000. McConnell Final Choice 2472 is a son of M A Final Choice 8036 going back to Final Answer and out of a TC Aberdeen 759 cow. Another long aged bull who had actual birth and 205 weights of 70 pounds and 858 pounds to go with EPDs of BW 0.6, WW 63, Milk 31, and YW 105.
