McNamee Angus Ranch 22nd Annual Yearling Bull Sale

Jack McNamee gave Tim Donnelly a gift for being a 20 consecutive year bull buyer. After this year's sale, Donnelly marked his 21st year of buying McNamee Angus Ranch bulls.

McNamee Angus Ranch, owned and operated by Jack McNamee and family, held their 22nd Annual Yearling Bull Sale April 17. Jack runs his cattle like the majority of commercial cattlemen – on grass. If these cows can’t perform to his standards and raise a good calf, they go to town. Jack and family continue to select sires with the expectation that they will produce calves that are correct and naturally thick with moderate birth weights and sufficient potential for growth.

Jack’s sires include Horse Butte 5023 of 1023, Horse Butte 58 of 0348, Horse Butte 6936 of 9136, J MC Appraiser 3946, J MC Rebel Yell 7343, Centennial Hero 741, Centennial Hero 475 and Buethe 598 Bando 6101. The females have excellent udders and this year’s bulls were as even as any set of bulls I’ve seen all year. These bulls found new homes in many areas as Jack has a very loyal customer base that get results from these bulls.

Top selling bull was J MC Hero 741 of 714, a Centennial Hero 741 son that went to Trusler Inc. of Ashland, MT for $4,100.

Second high selling bulls sold for $3,900 apiece. J MC 5023 of 337, by Horse Butte 5023 of 1023, sold to Merle Clark of Hulett, WY. J MC 6916 of 507, by Horse Butte 6916 of 1916, sold to Lee Cady of Shoshoni, WY.

Volume buyers were Trusler Inc. of Ashland, MT with nine bulls and Marian Hanson, also of Ashland, with seven bulls. Hanson has been buying McNamee bulls for 18 years. Four bulls went to new buyers and the rest sold to repeat customers like Tim Donnelly, who has been buying bulls from McNamee every year for 20 years, and Scot Robinson, who has been buying McNamee bulls for 19 years.
