Miller crowned Miss Rodeo Mandan 2013, Bauer named Princess
Codi Miller and Kimberly Bauer will serve as ambassadors for the 2013 Mandan Rodeo Days Celebration in their new roles as Miss Rodeo Mandan and Miss Rodeo Mandan Princess, respectively. The two were crowned during the Fourth of July professional rodeo in Mandan, ND.
Miller is the 19-year-old daughter of Gary and Stacey Miller, Amidon, ND. She is pursuing a business degree in tourism and hospitality management from Black Hills State University in Rapid City, SD.
A 2011 graduate from Bowman County High School, she is currently a public relations intern at the Medora Convention and Visitors Bureau. She was the 2010 North Dakota High School Rodeo Queen and state champion in pole bending. She is also Miss North Dakota Collegiate America 2012.
Her career goals include planning and promoting events aimed toward political or non-profit organizations as well as owning a boutique clothing store.
Bauer is the 12-year-old daughter of Jim and Dee Bauer, Mandan, ND. She will be a seventh grader at Mandan Middle School in the fall. Bauer began competing in rodeos at age 6. She is a member of the Mandan Horse and Saddle Club and is currently training her own colt. Art, singing, playing guitar, trail riding and snowmobiling are some of Bauer’s other interests.
Miller swept all categories in the pageant’s queen division: horsemanship, personality and appearance. Fellow queen and princess contestants also chose her for the congeniality award. Deann Berntson, Kulm, ND, was first runner-up.
In the princess division, Bauer won the appearance category. Alexis Helgeson, Mandan, ND, won the personality category and first runner-up honors. Cassidy Davidson, Mandan, ND, earned the horsemanship award. The congeniality winner was Isabella Erickson, Bismarck, ND.
Among the many prizes awarded were a queen’s trophy saddle sponsored by Express Yourself Salon and Spa and a princess saddle sponsored by Western Unlimited, plus trophy buckles, crowns and sashes. Miller also receives a $1,000 scholarship from the BSC Foundation.
Miller and Bauer will be asked to participate in speaking engagements on behalf of the Mandan Rodeo Committee, to assist at regional rodeos and to teach youth about the sport of rodeo and activities offered during Mandan Rodeo Days.
