Minot offering a earlybird ticket discount for annual rodeo

Early bird rodeo fans can get a discounts on this year’s Minot Y’s Men’s Rodeo tickets.

Until May 31, tickets for the rodeo are discounted by $5.

Ticket prices are $15 for silver seating and $20 for gold seating. After May 31, prices increase to $20 for silver and $25 for gold.

Most usually, the early bird purchases are made by long-time rodeo fans.

“We see a lot of people who want the same seats every year,” said Jake Hansen, 2012 rodeo chairman. “We see a fair amount of advance sales.”

Plans are well underway for this year’s rodeo. The ranch rodeo will return on Oct. 6, along with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Kiwanis. Cowboy Christmas vendors will have merchandise for sale each of the rodeo performances as well.

Minot still has not fully recovered from last year’s devastating flood, and the rodeo is a bit of relief for people stricken by the flood. “The rodeo is a good break away, a little bit of normalcy,” Hansen said. “We still have a lot of people that are still trying to get back into their homes, still deciding if they can even go back to their homes. The community is still struggling.”

Rodeo tickets can be purchased online at MinotYsMensRodeo.com. This year’s rodeo is October 4-7, 2012, and is the regional championship for the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association in North and South Dakota.
