Miss Rodeo Ak-Sar-Ben now accepting applications

Ak-Sar-Ben’s River City Rodeo and Stock Show is in search of its 2015 Miss Rodeo Ak-Sar-Ben. This year’s contest will take place Sunday, Aug., 3, at the Sarpy County Fairgrounds in Springfield, Neb. during the Sarpy County Fair. The Miss Rodeo Ak-Sar-Ben pageant is open to young women ages 18-24 who are residents of: Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wyoming. Contestants will be judged on appearance, horsemanship and personality.
Miss Rodeo Ak-Sar-Ben will receive a $1,500 scholarship to further her education, as well as additional awards, prizes and a travel stipend upon completion of her reign.
The role of Miss Rodeo Ak-Sar-Ben is to positively promote Ak-Sar-Ben’s River City Rodeo & Stock Show, Western heritage, and the Western way of life through her appearances at numerous functions throughout the year of her reign. Current Miss Rodeo Ak-Sar-Ben, Johanna Schmidt said, “I have met many generous people along my travels and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to represent the World’s 2nd Largest Rodeo!”
Entry forms can be found at rivercityrodeo.com/miss-rodeo and require a $100 entry fee, a headshot and resume. Deadline for online entry is June 30, 2014.
