Monsanto shareholders agree to Bayer takeover

Monsanto shareholders agreed to sell the company to Bayer, the Swiss company, for $66 billion, Fortune and other media outlets reported.

The deal must still be approved by the Justice Department, and questions have arisen about how a Trump administration will view the sale of a U.S. company to a foreign company.

Bayer has said it expects to sell its cotton and canola seed businesses to avoid concentration, Reuters reported last month.
