Montana High School Rodeo competitors qualify for Nationals

Montana High School Rodeo State Finals were held June 8-12. These young people have qualified for the National Finals.

Steer wrestling: Newt Novich, Twin Bridges; Garett Hanson, Helena; Ray Marshal, East Glacier; and Othniel Harkins, Billings. Alternate: Kane Feist, East Helena.

Tie-down roping: Tyler Hedrick, Frenchtown; Royce Tamcke, Dillon; Lane Lahaye, Wilsall; and Weston Brown, Big Sandy. Alternate: Shane Knerr, Grass Range.



Saddle broncs: Weston Brown, Big Sandy; Justin Harrell, Roy; Kendall Green, Cohagen; and Douglas Hall, Browning. Alternate: Chase Brooks, Deer Lodge.

Bareback: Cavan Wrzesinski, Boulder; Nick Owens, Havre; Calvin Ophus, Conrad; and Justin Hanson, Fairfield. Alternate: Goldman Real Bird, Crow Agency.



Breakaway: Kellee Jo Hersrud, Columbus; Kana Wuttunee, Hardin; Mandy Newman, Melstone; and Ava Rankin, Forsyth. Alternate: Lacey Camp, Belgrade.

Pole bending: Abby Knight, Charlo; Lauren Reiser, Townsend; Hanna Heckman, Choteau; and Heather Knerr, Grass Range. Alternate: Crystal Kleinsasser, Townsend.

Goat tying: Shaylee Hance, Circle; Jaylyn Garrison, Arlee; Lauren Reiser, Townsend; and Allison Wittkopp, Circle. Alternate: Ryanne Tracy, Victor.

Barrel racing: Hannah Wollenburg, Red Lodge; Bryona Frick, Florence; Allie Novotny, Helena; and Alex Cole, Silesia. Alternate: Emily Schall, Missoula.

Team roping: Justin Berschorner & Tyler Marr; Collin Johnson & Dakota Louis; Heather Knerr & Shane Knerr; and Jory Chrest & Jade Gardner. Alternate: Tyler Hedrick & Garrett Hanson.

Bull riding: Parker Breding, Edgar; Nevada Newman, Melstone; Guy Nordahl, Helena; and Dakota Louis, Browning. Alternate: Quinn Greenough, Bozeman.

Boy’s all-around: Weston Brown.

Girl’s all-around: Cate Hirschy.

Horse of the Year – Girls: Cowboy Decked Out, owned by Ava Rankin.

Horse of the Year – Boys: HR Legend of Tari, owned by Josh Davison.

Queen: Jeana Wagner.
