Mt. Rushmore Angus takes wins at Central States Fair pen show

Mt. Rushmore Angus brought the Champion Pen of Three Bred Heifers to town. The heifers were chosen as the Overall Champion Pen of Three as well. Pictured are judges, Larry Dickschat, Hermosa, Brandon Mitchell, Kadoka, Justin Uhrig, David Uhrig, Eddie Rypkama, Mt. Rushmore Angus, Carissa Lee and Scott Dirk, Tri State Livestock News, judge Clint Ridley, St. Onge. S.D., and John Rehmeier, Boehringer Ingelheim.

The champion heifer calves were displayed by Jerry Hammerquist, Caputa, S.D.

The champion steer calves were brought to town by by Jerry Hammerquist, Caputa, S.D.

Hershey Angus Ranch, Rapid City, S.D., claimed champion bull calf honors.

The champion bred heifers and Supreme Pen of 3 was owned by Mt. Rushmore Angus Ranch, Rapid City, S.D.

Clint Ridley, St. Onge, S.D., Brandon Mitchell, Kadoka, S.D. and Larry Dickschat, Hermosa, S.D., judged the event.

Bohringer Ingelheim and Tri State Livestock News were proud to sponsor the Pen of Three show.

Bohringer Ingelheim contributed $2,000 cash that was divided among the division winners plus a 500 mil bottle of Cydectin Injectable to each of the division winners and overall Supreme Pen. Tri State Livestock News presented jackets to the division winners and a trophy buckle to the Supreme pen. Every ranch that participated in a pen received a flag whip sponsored by Tri State Livestock News.

North Dakota farmer detained in Ukraine


A North Dakota farmer with business dealings in Ukraine now finds himself in custody there, accused by authorities in that country of plotting an assassination attempt against Ukraine’s agriculture minister, DTN/The Progressive Farmer has reported.
