N.D. man named to nat’l cattle industry post
Jason Schmidt, a beef producer from Medina, N.D., has been elected a regional vice president of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) Policy Division, representing the organization’s Region 7. As a regional vice president, Schmidt will serve on NCBA’s Executive Committee on behalf of beef producers in the states of Kansas, Nebraska and North and South Dakota. There are seven regional divisions within NCBA.
Schmidt and his family (wife Serena and children Paige, Austin, Madelyn and Ava) run a fourth generation commercial cow-calf operation. They also background their calves and custom-feed cattle during the winter months. He has been very active in local, state and national cattle organizations, holding leadership positions in the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association, North Dakota Beef Commission and NCBA. He was a 2006 member of the Young Cattlemen’s Conference, and is a former chairman of North Dakotans for Responsible Animal Care and North Dakota Animal Stewards.
Schmidt graduated from North Dakota State University in 1993 with a degree in animal science.
