On a beautiful Sunday afternoon an outstanding group of horses were sold at auction to a standing room only crowd by the following producers: Cow Hunting Quarter Horses (Dean & Kevin Lindwurm), Colome, SD; Caulfield Ranch Quarter Horses, Springview, NE; Dan & Cathy Sandall, Bassett, NE; Monty & Angie Painter, Springview, NE; Tom Keyes, Millboro, SD; and Roger Painter, Ainsworth, NE. The new sale location allowed an exceptional preview of the sale horses and the producer’s stallions.

High selling horse was Lot 49 a 2001 Sorrel AQHA gelding “Triple Doc Superstar” owned by Monty and Angie Painter. This outstanding finished bulldogging horse sold to Bill Manning, Valentine, NE for $5,500.

Second highest selling horse was Lot 1 a 2002 Bay AQHA gelding “Little Roller” sired by Bostons Little Man, the Painter Ranch’s deceased stallion who has sired a pasture full of good ranch and arena horses. Monty and Angie Painter had this stout, big bay finished for heading, heeling and running barrels. He sold to Daryl and Makala Butterfield, Stuart, NE for $5,000.

Another horse well worth the money was Lot 53X a 2003 Sorrel AQHA gelding “Cutter Rock Cody” owned by Viereck Performance Horses, Kimball, SD. This stout, good-looking gelding was shown as a finished heeling horse and was then ridden all day by a 3-year-old boy. Jeremy Stevens, Page, NE purchased this gelding for $4,500.

Cow Hunting Quarter Horses sold Lot 3, a 2006 Dun AQHA mare ”Merada Cat Duel” to Nancy Bartos, Verdigre, NE for $4,000. This keen little mare could really move and watch a cow.

There was a nice selection of 2- and 3-year-old mares and geldings. Caulfield Ranch offered Lot 4 a nice 2010 Sorrel Gelding “Leroys Little Pep” out of their great stallion Dual Playin. This flashy gelding, well started by Frank Kenzy sold to Brent Frederick, Verdigre, NE for $2,350.

Cow Hunting Quarter Horses offered Lot 27 a 2010 Sorrel Gelding also sired by Dual Playin. Corey Nilson, Springview, NE purchased this gelding for $1,850.

A fancy group of stout weanlings with color and pedigrees were sold. Selling for $550 to Ryan Snyder, Springview, NE was Lot 7, Monty and Angie Painter’s fancy buckskin stud colt (I Will Rock You x BNA Bay Rose). This colt’s pedigree includes: Mr Dakota Copper, Pocos Mac Attack, High Style Hickory, and Sac Em Doc.

Jason Painter, Ainsworth, NE, purchased Lot 14, a bay roan stud colt for $400 sired by Cow Hunting Quarter Horses’ son of Fuel N Shine and out of one of Monty Painter’s Scotch Bar Time mares.

Caulfield Ranch’s Lot 10 was a nice sorrel filly that sold to Brett McAbee, Ansley, NE for $375. This fancy filly was sired by Caulfield Ranch’s Dual Playin and her dam’s sire was Annies Little Pepper.

This sale was dedicated to the memory of Larry Painter, who passed away in June and was a great friend and mentor to the Quarter Horse industry.
