NILE Gold Buckle Performance Horse Sale
The horses consigned to the 2010 Gold Buckle Performance Horse Sale held Oct. 16, 2010 were all very high quality with outstanding pedigrees. This may have been the best set of horses ever consigned to a NILE Sale. The weather was perfect and a huge crowd showed up to view and bid on these fine horses. Lynn Weishaar was the auctioneer and John Johnson read the pedigrees.
A great barrel racing mare sold for $10,250 to Sid and Janet Erickson of Helena, MT. The mare was consigned by Brenda Seely of Lander, WY. This mare is a competitive 1D horse with absolutely no holes in her. Sired by the great barrel horse sire, Blazin T Bar, and out of an Easy Jet bred mare, this mare had admirers with many bidders trying to buy her.
Following was Mr. Impulse, a 13-year-old gelding consigned by Dennis and Rhonda Koivu of Worden, MT. He sold to Bill Grunstead of Billings at $9,000. Mr. Impulse had a great show career and was gentle for anyone to ride. His conformation along with his gentle disposition attracted the attention of many bidders.
Hip #915 was really an all-around horse. Consigned by Josh Bilbrey of Miles City, MT, this 5-year-old bay gelding was by Plastic Playgun going back to Freckles Playboy and out of a Mr. Chant Bob-bred mare. Josh is a great horse trainer and everyone knows that horses he brings will be gentle, honest and highly trained. The horse sold to Dean Smith of Bancroft, ID, for $8,500.
Double K Ranch of McCook, NE sold JMS Star Eyed Jack, a 5-year-old bay roan gelding for $8,200 to Vanessa Barto of Truth or Consequences, NM. This fine gelding was sired by Two Id Sweet Jack going back to Two Eyed Jack and out of a Clegg-bred mare. He was super gentle and had a lot of cow in him. The Double K Ranch consigned five outstanding geldings that were all high-quality, very gentle, well broke horses. The five geldings averaged $6,240 per head.
Another highlight of the sale was Lot #918, Lonis Diego. This five-year-old was broke, trained and shown by 10-year-old Loni Waid of Havre, MT. In addition to being a good ranch horse for sorting, roping and handling cattle, he had also won many championships in 4-H and local Jr. Rodeos. This little gal had done quite a job with this horse and it sold to Jason and Peggy Loiseth of Arnegard, ND at $5,100.
The NILE Gold Buckle Performance Horse Sale had a horse to fit every need from very gentle kids’ horses to finished rope horses and barrel horses. These horses were screened for soundness and quality by a veterinarian and a sale committee. The average on 37 head of four-year-old and older horses was $4222 and the two-year-old and three-year-olds averaged $1770.
Many livestock producers are utilizing stockpiled pasture, hay regrowth and warm- or cool-season annuals to extend the grazing season this fall.
