NILE High School Rodeo Showcase slated for Oct. 15

Some kids dream of being a fireman, some of being a doctor, some want to go to the moon and others want to keep their feet on the ground. All dreams worthy of recognition and very respectable but what little kid doesn’t want to be a cowboy (cowgirl) too?! Professional rodeo athletes have to start somewhere and generally, the dream comes about the time a youngster pets their first horse.

The NILE is proud to highlight those kids and their dreams at this year’s High School Showcase on October 15. Fall High School Rodeo competition was turned up a notch with the announcement that the top 2 kids in the Montana State High School Rodeo association would receive an invite to the NILE.

Thursday night of the NILE rodeo fans will in attendance at our annual Cat Griz Shoot Out will have the rare opportunity to witness an event with this mix of rodeo athletes. Each ProRodeo event will feature top rodeo athletes from around the country. The final two rides in each event will feature the top 2 competitors from the HS association. While they won’t be competing against the professional athletes, this allows them to perform under the lights of the big show and in front of huge crowds in the Metra Arena. All of us involved with the NILE are excited to invite these future superstars to join us in Billings for the first annual NILE High School Showcase.

Thursday at the NILE is packed full of action and is an excellent representation of what the Northern International Livestock Exposition organization stands for including the Cat Griz Shoot Out. With a mission statement of supporting, embracing and promoting the western lifestyle and the future of agriculture, what better way than highlighting our youth?

Cat Griz night at the Rodeo is an annual event that pits the Montana State Bobcats against the University of Montana Grizzly’s. The two rival rodeo teams come to the NILE and make their selections of who among the ProRodeo competitors will come out on top. The team with the most points at the end of the night wins. NILE contributes a portion of ticket sales for Thursday night to scholarship programs at the winning school.

It is bound to be an action packed night in Billings at the NILE ProRodeo. Be sure to come out to cheer on your favorite Pro Rodeo Athlete, root for your alma mater and see the super stars of tomorrow compete. Tickets start at just $10.

Rodeo action starts at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. Tickets for the NILE ProRodeo can be purchased by visiting the MetraPark box office, online at or by calling the Metra ticket office at (800) 366-8538. For more information and a complete schedule of events, visit or call the NILE office at (406) 256-2495.
