NILE ProRodeo heats up MetraPark
October 11, 2013
To some, the month of October is marked by the leaves taking on shades of gold and auburn, pumpkin pie lattes coming back on the menu and the heat bill beginning its seasonal ascent. But, to a professional rodeo cowboy, October marks the beginning of a new year and another chance to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The NILE Pro Rodeo is one of the first 2014 qualifying rodeos to show up in many a cowboy or cowgirl's day planner. What does that mean to the fans? Some of the best rodeo action under one roof, Oct. 17-19 in the Rimrock Auto Arena at Metra Park.
Brookman-Hyland Rodeo of Sydney, Mont., along with Burch Rodeo (Rozett, Wyo.), Corey and Lange Rodeo (Moses Lake, Wa.), and C-5 Rodeo (Lac La Biche, B.C., Canada) will provide some of the rankest stock in the business – many of the same bulls and broncs rodeo fans will see on the Wrangler National Finals stock roster in December. The always-entertaining JJ Harrison, will return to his place in the barrel. And two-time PRCA Announcer of the Year, Wayne Brooks, will be behind the microphone, announcing the action as it unfolds.
As in years past, Thursday night, presented by Coors and Briggs Distributing, will feature the Cat-Griz Shootout, highlighting the infamous college rivalry between the University of Montana Grizzlies and the Montana State University Bobcats. The two schools' rodeo clubs will compete for scholarship money based on the outcomes of their chosen competitors during the night's performance. Spectators are encouraged to wear school colors in support of their team, and tickets for students start at just $6. On Friday, Rimrock Auto Arena will become a sea of pink as St. Vincent Healthcare presents "Tough Enough to Wear Pink" night to support breast cancer awareness, with one dollar from every ticket sold going toward the St. Vincent Healthcare Eva Project. And on Saturday night, the 2013 NILE will close with Wrangler Patriot Night and will highlight the Big Sky Honor Flights. Military personnel will receive a $5 discount on tickets. Each night's performance will kick off at 7:30 p.m. with a laser light show, even bigger and more impressive than last year.
Tickets may be purchased at the MetraPark box office, online at metrapark.com or by calling 800-366-8538. For more information and a complete schedule of events, visit http://www.TheNile.org. or call the NILE office at 406-256-2495.
