North Dakota high school & junior high rodeo seasons set to begin

The North Dakota High School Rodeo Association (NDHSRA) invites ninth grade through senior rodeo contestants to join its ranks for the 2011-2012 rodeo season.

The season begins Aug. 27-28 with a double rodeo hosted by the Mandan Horse and Saddle Club at the Dacotah Centennial Park Arena. Other rodeos on the fall schedule include Bottineau, Sept. 3-4; Watford City, Sept. 10; and Velva, Sept. 11. Additional rodeos will be held in the spring culminating with a state finals in Bowman on June 15-17, 2012.

Events for boys include tie-down roping, steer wrestling, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding and cattle cutting. Girls’ events include breakaway roping, barrel racing, goat tying, pole bending and cattle cutting. Any pair may compete in the team roping.
