Nyberg ACE Dutch Oven Challenge results

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The weather couldn’t have been better for the Dakota Dutcher’s Nyberg Ace Dutch Oven Challenge held Saturday, Sept. 10. Eight Dutch oven teams cooked 17 delicious Dutch oven dishes competing for about $500 in cash and prizes. This was the last Dutch oven competition of the year as the one-of-a-kind Spirit of the West Festival was cancelled this year.

Organizers extended their thanks to the dedicated judging crew, along with prize donors and supporters, including: The Dakota Dutchers; Nybergs ACE; Jon Joss Spice; Colleen Sloan’s Log Cabin Grub, Camp Chef and GSI for all the great prizes and Dutch oven cookware. The Baders won the fabulous 12-inch GSI anodized aluminum Dutch oven!

Dakota Dutcher/ACE Dessert winners: 1. Luinea and Regina Cauldwell, Raspberry Rhubarb Pie; 2. Luinea and Regina Cauldwell, Chocolate Turtle Cheesecake; 3. Jason and Kinsey Griffin, Pumpkin Cake; 4. Luinea and Regina Cauldwell, Mom’s Peach Dessert; 5. Hope and Terry Bader, Chocolate Lover’s Delight.



Dakota Dutcher/ACE Main course: 1. Dallas Dohlman, Pork Loin Roast; 2. Jason and Kinsey Griffin, Mexi-lasagne; 3. Dallas Dohlman, Creole Chicken with Rice; 4. Luinea and Regina Cauldwell, Almond Pork Loin with Honey Mustard Sauce; 5. Hope and Terry Bader, Dutch Oven Pot Pie.

Jon Joss Main Course: 1. Jason and Kinsey Griffin, Seasoned Pork Loin and Veggies; 2. Luinea and Regina Cauldwell, Chicken Marsala; 3. Jim Johnsen, “Cass Made Me Do It Pork Loin”; 4. Dave Oppegard, Redcorn Chicken Fingers



Kid’s Dessert: 1. The Griffin Crew, Black Bottom Cake.

Kid’s Main Course: 1. The Griffin Crew, Beef and Veggie Stir Fry; 2. The Bader Bunch, Meal in a Mug.

This was a great event with high public turn out at Nyberg’s ACE. Those interested in more Dutch oven events, the Dakota Dutchers meet monthly at Nyberg’s ACE, 12th and Kiwanis about 2:30 p.m. on the first Sunday of each month, unless it is a Saturday, then they meet the following week.
