Obama signs CR, bill for agriculture reauthorizations
October 1, 2015
The White House announced late Wednesday that President Barack Obama had signed the continuing resolution that Congress passed earlier in the day to fund the government through December 11, as well as the Agriculture Reauthorizations Act, which reauthorized Livestock Mandatory Price Reporting, the U.S. Grain Standards Act and the National Forest Foundation Act.
Senate Agriculture Committee ranking member Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., praised Obama for signing the reauthorizations bill.
"This bipartisan law ensures our nation's farmers, foresters, and ranchers have the tools they need for success," Stabenow said in a news release.
"These important reauthorizations also included reforms that increase transparency in the livestock markets, maintain the integrity and boost the responsiveness of our federal grain inspection systems, and promote partnerships to revitalize the 193 million acres in our national forest system."
