Joseph “Mickey” Maher: 1927-2013
Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph “Mickey” Maher, age 85, of Morristown, S.D., was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morristown, S.D. Fr. Tony Grossenburg officiated and burial followed in the Hillside Cemetery at Morristown.
Mickey passed away on Sunday morning, June 30, 2013, at the Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon.
Mickey is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna Maher, Lemmon, S.D.; 10 sons, Mike (Marcia) Maher, Isabel, S.D., Ed (Judy) Maher, Morristown, Kevin (Mary) Maher, Rapid City, Ken (Cindy) Maher, New Salem, N.D., Keith (Candy) Maher, Billings, Mont., Pat (Rhonda) Maher, Dickinson, N.D., Nick (Deb) Maher, Bowman, N.D., Rick (Cheryl) Maher, Rapid City, Jeff (Bobby) Maher, Dickinson, N.D. and John (Monica) Maher, Billings, Mont.; two daughters, Linda (Tim) Garrett, Spring Creek, Nev., and Jody (Myron) Schmidt, Colstrip, Mont.; 35 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Francis (Carol) Maher, Menoken, N.D., Paul (Claudette) Maher, Bismarck, N.D., Vince (Chris) Maher, Mobridge, S.D., Jerome (Etta) Maher, Glendive, Mont., and Dan (Gloria) Maher, Morristown, S.D., two sisters, Mary Gauthier and Rose Mary (Dave) Dirk, one sister-in-law, Polly Maher, Mitchell, S.D., and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, John, Jim and Pat, twin sisters in infancy and one grandson, Cody Maher.
A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer’s Association.
