William “Bill” Hobbs: 1926-2013
Mass of Christian Burial for William A. Hobbs, age 86, of Spearfish, S.D., formerly of Ewing, Neb., was held July 31, 2013, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ewing. Burial was in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery at Ewing. He passed away Thursday evening, July 25, 2013, at Hospice House of the Hills in Rapid City, S.D. Arrangements were under the direction of Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill, Neb. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ewing.
He is survived by his wife Judith, nine children, Sharon (Clifford) Streskal of Clearwater, Neb., Patricia Brion (Joseph) Robino of Bennington, Neb., Duke (Molly) Hobbs of Ewing, Neb., Jeanne Fry of Norfolk, Neb., Christine (John) Moser of Clearwater, Neb., Rebecca (Dan) Koenig, of Ewing, Neb., James Hobbs, of Ewing, Neb., Teresa (Randy) Hawk of Omaha, Neb., and Germaine (Todd) Bollwitt of Ewing, Neb.; 36 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and three brothers, Dwayne (Marilyn) Hobbs, Dorrence (Barbara) Hobbs, and Bob (Janell) Hobbs, all of Ewing, Neb.
William was born Nov. 5, 1926, in O’Neill, Neb., to Lee and Mildred (Harding) Hobbs. He married Arlene Schiffbauer on Sept. 3, 1943, in Ewing, Neb.; she passed away May 1, 1994. He married Judith Hein on Dec. 29, 1999, in Ewing, Neb. He owned and operated Hobbs Feedlot at Ewing and was a cattle buyer. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Ewing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Arlene, two sisters and their husbands, one brother, one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter and two sons-in-law, Ron Brion and Jack Fry.
