Oglala Sioux Tribal Pres. suspended
July 7, 2014
According to news reports, the tribal council suspended Oglala Sioux Tribal President Bryan Brewer on June 24. According to the Rapid City Journal, Brewer's suspension is until July 17 when a hearing will be held to determine further action.
Allegations were that Brewer acted without the approval of the council more than once and mishandled a check for $5,000.
In the May, 2014 Tri-State Livestock News story "Tribal Tensions," it was reported that Brewer and the council had been supporting the controversial proposed tribal national park that would replace current cattle grazing leases with federally-owned buffalo.
