Perli Angus Grassland Production Sale

Scott Dirk
Dan Lindblom, and John Allen, Hermosa, SD greet each other at the Perli Angus sale. The Lindblom family has been buying Perli Angus bulls for several years. In fact at this year's sale Dan's son David and grandson Brad all bought Perli Angus bulls, making three generations of Perli Bull buyers.

The inaugural production sale of Perli Angus was a great success as old and new customers attended the sale and made their selections of low-input grass genetics.

Two bulls tied to top the bull sale. Lot 1, Perli Game Day 508, a 3/8/09 son of GDAR Game Day 449 was selected by Monte Reichert of New Underwood, SD at $3,000. Lot 8, Perli Game Day 213, a 3/5/09 son of GDAR Game Day 449 also commanded a $3,000 bid from David Lindblom of Hermosa, SD. Lindblom also chose Lot 6, another “Game Day” son at $2,400. David Mintzlaff of Hermosa, SD selected Lot 19 at $2,500, a 3/8/09 son of Faxton of Wye UMF 8819 and a 3/13/09 son of “Game Day,” Lot 10, for $2,300.

Topping the open yearling heifer category was Lot 43, Perlis Blackbird 913, a 3/8/09 daughter of GDAR Game Day 449 out of a RR Ferdinand 758D daughter. She sold to Matthew Manbeck of Glade Hill, VA at $2,000. Brad Murphy of Bozeman, MT selected Lot 34, Perlis Patrica 909, a 3/6/09 daughter of Faxton of Wye UMF 8819, at $1,250. The balance of the 17 heifers sold to Paul Lowhan of Jackson, WY at $1,000 each.

The bred cows and pairs sold strong and found buyers from all over the country. Lot 424, Perlis Helda 424, a 3/13/04 daughter of Sitz Value 7097 with a herd sire prospect at side, sold to Rally Farms of Millbrook, NY at $2,900. Brian Collins of Kenefic, OK won the bid on Lot 410, a 3/4/04 daughter of OCC Homer 650H with a 3/18/10 heifer calf at side also at $2,900. Tim Grygel of Florence, SD filled his trailer with three cows – Lot 426 at $2,300, Lot 408 at $2,100 and Lot 510 at $2,000.
