Perli Angus & Guests Grassland Production Sale

Dan and Brad Lindbloom from Rapid City, SD, bought from the top end at the Perli Angus sale.

The 2nd annual Grassland Production Sale hosted by Keith and Jacque Perli posted strong results with a top quality offering of Angus genetics. The Perli operation is a grassroots operation – the cattle are not pushed for big gains, but instead are raised on grass and hay. The bulls are moderate framed, showing natural thickness and should last several years in the breeding pasture.

Topping the bull sale was Perlis Lennox 0201, a 4/20/10 son of Hyland Lennox 0874. He was selected by Rittberger & Sons, Hermosa, SD, for $3,500. Rittberger also selected Perlis Traveler 0207, a 4/3/10 son of Berbos Traveler 9929 3408, for $3,100.

Dan Lindbloom, Rapid City, SD, took Perlis Traveler 0421, a 3/22/10 son of “3408,” at $3,100. Lyle Hartshorn, Hermosa, SD, chose Perlis Traveler 03 at $3000, while Shana Cuny, Buffalo Gap, SD, selected another son of Berbos Traveler 9929 3408, Perlis Traveler 0309, at $3,000.

Purebred heifers sold strong with Burkes Garden Angus, Tazewell, VA, selecting the top two heifers at $2,000 each. Both heifers were sired by Berbos Traveler 9929 3408. Darwin Peckham, Bristol, SD, selected Lot 27 and Lot 41 by “3408.”

The cow-calf division found buyers poised to take advantage of the superior maternal power offered by Perli Angus. Perlis Blackbird 620, a 3/19/06 Pathfinder daughter of Berbos Traveler 9929 3408 sold with her March bull calf by Mystic Hill Imagemaker 0909 to Millar Angus, Newell, SD. Rally Farms, Millbrook, NY, selected Lot 47, a 3/10/7 daughter of Sitz Alliance 6595 with her March heifer calf by Mystic Hill Imagemaker 0909 at $3,500.

Upchurch Angus, Lineville, AL, consigned several embryo packages and a flush. Spayde Angus, Louisa, VA, selected the flush of N Bar Enchantress U139E at $3,000. K&K Angus, Kenefic, OK, purchased the embryos out of Brooks Donna 403 at $350, while Meadow Acres Ranch, Echo, OR, selected the embryos from UB Everelda Entense 38 at $325 each.

Commercial heifers from Richard Perli and Grunhaupt Cattle Co sold to South Dakota and Nebraska for $960 each.
