Tom and Cindy Lillibridge and Rex and Tracy Pfaff of Ponca Creek Cattle Co. welcomed a great crowd of new and repeat buyers to the ranch for their annual Angus bull sale. This operation has progressively been increasing numbers and quality over the past several years; and this year’s bulls were the best they have offered to date. The bulls receive no creep feed while on the cow and are developed on a high roughage ration for added longevity and soundness.

This was a nice, uniform set of bulls sired by some of the top artificial insemination (AI) sires in the Angus breed. They were wide-topped, deep-sided bulls that were not overly conditioned. They are ready to go to work in the breeding pasture.

Topping the sale was Lot 10, Ponca Creek Upward 903, a 3/4/10 son of Sitz Upward 307, with EPDs of BW 1.3, WW 58, YW 110 and Milk 31. Sonny Plugge, Burke, SD, was the buyer at $7,000.

Plugge also bought the next top-selling bull at $6,000. Lot 41, Ponca Creek 6106 686, is a 3/15/10 son of Connealy 6106 746 848, with EPDs of BW 1.3, WW 58, YW 107 and Milk 27.

Selling at $5,500 was Lot 15, Ponca Creek Game Day 122, a 2/14/10 son of GDAR Game Day 449, with EPDs of BW 1.0, WW 51, YW 94 and Milk 26. Hauger Stock Farm, Irene, SD, was the buyer.
