PRCA stock contractors donate $36,700 from Bucking Horse & Bull sale

After the record-breaking Benny Binion’s World Famous Bucking Horse & Bull Sale held last month in Las Vegas, organizers announced total donations of $36,700 to the ProRodeo Hall of Fame, the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund, a trio of college scholarships, and the PRCA Championship Rodeo Camp Series.

The people involved – both donators and recipients – believe what they do today, will benefit ProRodeo and Western industries in many years to come.

“We are very proud of our Western heritage,” said John Barnes, a PRCA board member and the chairman of the stock contractors executive council. “It is a story that needs to be told. New people come along, and they don’t know what it took to get where we are. That is why we have to take care of our heritage, and that is why the ProRodeo Hall of Fame is so important.”

New this year, three students were recipients of $1,000 ProRodeo Hall of Fame Scholarships at the Benny Binion Bucking Horse & Bull Sale, which was hosted by PRCA Stock Contractors.

Students eligible for the award were those who have completed a semester of college and had an agricultural background or were pursuing an agricultural-related education. This year’s recipients were Weston Burkhardt, of Cherokee, IA, Katie Bourk, of Blunt, SD, and Chance Smith from Vaughn, MT.
