After the first try was a success, professional rodeo is coming back to Bowman, ND this month. Putting on a PRCA rodeo is lots of work, and the Bowman County PRCA Rodeo Committee found that out during their first ever Indoor PRCA Rodeo just a year ago.

“It being our first year putting this event on, we didn’t know what to expect,” said Committee Chair Mark Ballard. “We were blown away with the success it had.”

For a first year rodeo, it was a huge feat that the committee added $20,000 to the purse attracting several of the biggest names in rodeo including Jesse Bail, Chad Ferley, Dusty Hausauer, Lisa Lockhart, Heath Ford and Shaun Stroh.

The second, now annual event, will be held Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19, inside the Bowman County All Seasons Arena at 7 p.m. nightly.

“We feel a little more comfortable the second time around, plus we have many dedicated volunteers that help put on rodeos several times a year in Bowman,” noted Ballard.

This year’s event will again feature stock by Gold Buckle and J Bar J Rodeo, Announcer Barney Sheridan and the Ladies Calf Dressing. New this year will be Rodeo Entertainer Crash Cooper and the kids Mutton Bustin. In Bowman at the same time are the Double J Horse Sale and Rural Women in America Conference.

Bowman Rotary’s Rib Feed will kickoff the evening inside the arena and seating will go fast. Rodeo tickets can be purchased at the Frontier Travel Center in Bowman or at the Bowman Area Chamber of Commerce.
