This year's set of bulls were well-grown, and they had produced a lot of muscle mass. They cross well on English cows.

Tim gives an unconditional guarantee on his bulls through the first breeding season. All of the bulls are born unassisted with an average birth weight of 84 lb. Their average weaning weight was 691 lb., and they were just on their mother's milk with no creep feed.

This herd does a good job of balancing scrotal measurements with fertility as well as excellent rib eye measurements and IMF scores. Tim works diligently to find the genetics to keep the birth weights in a desirable range.

The top selling bull of the day was Lot 1, selling for $6,000 to Rick Jordon, Sturgis, S.D. He was a son of MD Full Turn U1985 and out of a daughter of Bedrock. He had EPD's of BW -0.1, WW 20, YW 37, and MILK 10. Born at 74 lb., he weaned at 663 lb. and gained 3.69 lb. a day on test. He measured a 44 cm scrotal, and had an IMF ratio of 108.

Repeat buyers Harold and Lori Miller, Newell, S.D., chose Lot 56 at $5,250. He was a son of VCR Silverman 130P and out of a daughter of Silver Commad L252. He weaned at 680 lb. and had a yearling weight of 1290 lb. His EPD's were BW 1.7, WW 30, YW 51, MILK 1, and MCE 5.1. He gained 3.76 lb. a day and had a 37 cm. scrotal measurement. He scanned a 15.9 sq. in. rib eye area and had an IMF of 3.33 percent.

Lot 41 also sold to Rick Jordon for $5,250. He was a son of Eatons Traceable 9448 and out of a Duke bred dam. He had an 81 lb. birth weight and a weaning weight of 691 lb. He gained 3.43 lb. a day.

And for awhile, it seemed like you needed to pay $4750 if you wanted one of these good bulls. Lynn Miller, Faith, S.D., bought Lot 15 at $4,750. He was sired by LHD Class W1239. Born at 87 lb., he weaned at 835 lb., and posted a yearling weight of 1,340 lb.

With a price of $4750, the winning bidder on Lot 44 was Kim Kling, Belle Fourche, S.D. This bull was sired by Eatons Lead On P5037 and out of a daughter of Eatons Traceable. With a 79 lb. birth weight, he weaned at 721 lb. to index 110.

Repeat buyer, Tim Smith, Lodgepole, S.D., chose Lot 45 at $4750. This son of Eatons Traceable had an 89 lb. birth weight and a weaning weight of 790 lb. to index 122.

Billy Olson, Mud Butte, S.D., bought two bulls at $4,750 in Lots 54 and 62. Lot 54 was another bull out of MD Full Turn U1985, and Lot 62 was sired by LHD Class W1239.

What a great day for the Reich family……. and a pretty good day for the rest of us, with the help of Ree Reich's "always good" glazed doughnuts!
