S.D. cattle on feed up 4 percent from 2013
Sioux Falls S.D., March 21, 2014 – South Dakota feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 240,000 cattle on feed on March 1, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. This inventory is up 4 percent from last year.
Placements during February totaled 39,000 head, down 13 percent from 2013.
Fed cattle marketings for the month of February totaled 36,000 head, down 8 percent from last year.
Other disappearance during February totaled 3,000 head, up 2,000 head from last year. F
