The Best of the West sale in Dickinson, ND consisted of three-top Red Angus producers. Spur M Red Angus, owned and operated by Doug and Darcy McGee and family; Schriefer Red Angus, owned and operated by Marc and Jodi Schriefer and family and McGee Red Angus, owned and operated by Meryl and Stacy McGee and family. These families join together each year to offer a powerful, excellent set of bulls and females.

They had numerous calving ease bulls including bulls with growth, performance and great dispositions. Bulls were sound structurally correct and ready to go to work in any weather or market. These bulls have great feedlot performance and carcass merit. Best of the West producers all have one thing in common and it all starts with a good cow performing in their climate and country and in all weather conditions.

Buyers from local areas and numerous states made their way to bid on a great set of bulls and heifers on sale day.

Top-selling bulls:

Lot 30, SMJ Buster Rambo X256, a March 30, 2010 son of HLH Buster 406 603. He sold to Huber EY Red Angus, Jud, ND, for $8,000. This low birth, high performance bull posted a birthweight of 79 pounds, and a weaning weight of 715 pounds. This bull also had EPDs of BW -2.7, WW 35, YW 66 and Milk 15.

Lot 41, SMJ Rambo Pie Accel X311, a April 13, 2010 son of MLK CRK Rambo 4145. Sold to Terry Henderson, Hettinger, ND, for a final bid of $5,750. This bull had a 77-pound birthweight, a 649-pound weaning weight and posted EPDs of BW -2.1, WW 20, YW 45 and Milk 22.

Lot 35, RSMJ HI HO Rambo X804, a May 13, 2010 son of EMRA HI HO 826. He sold to Frank Dillman, Grassy Butte, ND, for $5,250. This bull posted EPDs of BW 0.9, WW 37, YW 66 and Milk 22.

Lot 28, SMJ BB Foundation X252, a March 26, 2010 son of CBR Barn Boy 4340-7330. He sold for $5,250, to Dean Knutson, Dunn Center, ND. This bull posted EPDs of BW 0.7, WW 43, YW 76 and Milk 20.

Lot 42, SMJ Rambo Joshau X258, a April 6, 2010 son of MLK CRK Rambo 4145. He also sold to Dean Knutson for a final bid of $5,000. This bull posted EPDs of BW -2.1, WW 26, YW 56 and Milk 25.

The next two bulls also sold for $5,000.

Lot 17, McGee Mission 102, a Feb. 26, 2011 son of LCJ Mission Statement P27, sold to Schrieffer Red Angus, Golden Valley, ND. This bull posted EPDs of BW 1.4, WW 50, YW 92 and Milk 18.

Lot 27, SMJ BB Make My Day X297, a March 31, 2010 son of CBR Barn Boy 4340-7330, sold to Garrett LaLim, Tioga, ND. This bull posted EPDs of BW 1.0, WW 39, YW 67 and Milk 13.

Top Selling Heifers:

Lot 70, SMJ Abbey Rambo Rumble Y315, a May 16, 2011 daughter of CBR Rumbler 116-7140. She sold to Bauman Red Angus, Linton, ND, for a final bid of $2,150. This heifer had a set of EPDs that showed BW -1.4, WW 35, YW 61 and Milk 19.

Lot 52, SPR Miss Packer 1025 (OSC), a March 17, 2011 daughter of Messmer Packer S008 went home to Darryl Rhodes, Wichita, KS, for a final bid of $2,000. This heifer had EPDs of BW -2.3, WW 36, YW 72 and Milk 20.
