A brand new sale facility out at the Fuoss Ranch, greeted the big crowd of bidders for their annual production sale. This attractive, insulated barn was built new in 2010.
The Fuoss family offered a good set of early born yearling bulls, with many of these bulls being bred for calving ease. Also in the offering was a big stout set of later born two-year-old bulls that were big in their overall size and makeup.
Sale day turned out beautiful in the afternoon after the first good spring storm of the season. The sale moved along at a good pace, and proved to be the best sale ever for the Fuoss family.
Top selling bull of the day was Lot 0119, a son of Dakota Something Special 642, and out of a daughter of Marcys 02 Global 12. He had EPDs of CED 3, BW 2.7, WW 64, YW 104 and Milk 24. With an 84-pound birthweight, he weaned at 731 pounds and posted a present day weight of 1865 pounds. Repeat buyer, Dan Valburg, White River, SD, was the buyer at $8,000.
Lot 0118 also sold to Dan Valburg. This son of Dakota Something Special 642, was out of a daughter of Sitz Alliance 6596, and fetched a price of $7,750. He had a 79-pound birthweight, a weaning weight of 724 pounds, and a present day weight of 1775 pounds. His EPDs are CED 7, BW 1.1, WW 55, YW 88 and Milk 25.
Another good selection for Dan Valburg was Lot 0127 at $7,500. He was also a son of Dakota Something Special 642, and he was out of a daughter of Schurrtop Commander X864. He had EPDs of BW 3.5, WW 62, YW 96 and Milk 24. Born at 91 pounds, he weaned at 687 pounds, and had a present day weight of 1705 pounds.
Dennis Vederal, Gregory, SD, chose Lot 086 at $7,250. Another big, stout two-year-old, he was a son of SAV Net Worth 4200. He was out of a daughter of TC Foreman 016, and had EPDs of BW 3.8, WW 57, YW 101 and Milk 22. He had an 88-pound birthweight, a 721-pound weaning weight, and grew to a present day weight of 2000 pounds.
Lot 097 sold for $6,000 to Rod Lookabill, Wood, SD. This son of SchurrGene 2063 2595, was out of a daughter of Sitz Alliance 6595. His EPDs are BW 4.4, WW 56, YW 103 and Milk 27. He started at 87 pounds, weaned at 672 pounds and reached a present day weight of 1715 pounds.
Headlining the yearling portion of the sale was Lot 101. He sold to repeat buyer Randy Knippling, Gann Valley, SD, for $5,750. This bull was a yearling son of TC Aberdeen 759, and out of a daughter of Mytty In Focus. He posted EPDs of BW 2.9, WW 54, YW 97 and Milk 35. He had an 88-pound birthweight, a weaning weight of 679 pounds, and a yearling weight of 1327 pounds.
This was a very good sale for the Fuoss family, but I do think the Farm Credit Association may need to purchase a new coffee pot! F
